Coronado, California

We enjoyed our two week stay at the U.S. Navy’s Fiddler’s Cove RV Park on Coronado Island. We had a nice water-side, full hookup site with a fire ring.

A week ago Sunday, our friends Rob & Janet drove down from Oceanside to visit us. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Coronado Brew Pub. We had a great view of the San Diego skyline from a nearby park.

After lunch, we visited the Coronado Hotel, which has been a fixture in Coronado since 1888. It was my and Julie’s first visit. It’s a beautiful, historic hotel.  We especially enjoyed the beach and a holiday sand sculpture.

We “moved” today about 120 miles north to the Seabreeze RV Park at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. We’ll be here for six nights and have time to explore this area south of Los Angeles..

Southern California

We enjoyed our stay at Del Mar Beach Resort on Camp Pendleton. We had a great view of the Pacific Ocean and were parked right on the beach.

We had dinner one evening with my aunt and uncle, Clara and Earl, who live in nearby Vista. We also enjoyed spending a couple evenings with Rob and Janet, old friends from Colorado Springs and then Austin. They bought a home in Oceanside this summer and moved here from Austin after retiring.
Rob and I enjoyed the Denver Broncos-New Orleans Saints football game last Sunday at Rookies Sports Bar. There were a few other Broncos fans, but mostly Packers, Chargers, and Cowboys fans.

We “moved” to Coronado, California last Monday, November 14th and will spend two weeks here at the Navy campground. We have nice views of the San Diego skyline from our camp site.

Leaving Las Vegas

We left Las Vegas last Tuesday, November 1st, and drove to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. We got our truck back from the Friendly Ford Body Shop last Friday. It had been in the body shop nearly a month, but they did an outstanding job of repairing the hail damage.

Last Sunday I went to the NHRA Mello Yellow Nationals drag races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, just a short drive up Las Vegas Blvd. from our site at Nellis AFB Family Campground. The races were awesome. I thought the best race was the Funny Car final between John Force and his daughter, Courtney Force. John beat his daughter by 2/100th of a second.

The drive to Oceanside was about 315-miles. It took us 45-minutes to get out of Las Vegas because of the traffic on I-15. We enjoyed stopping for lunch in Yermo, just outside of Barstow, at Peggy Sue’s 50s Diner.

We got settled into our campsite here at Del Mar Beach Resort and were treated to our first sunset over the Pacific since we left Maui. We will be here for two weeks.
