When we first arrived back in February there were about 189 campers in the overflow area. Fellow campers have left and headed back North towards home. We’ve enjoyed our unobstructed view of the gulf the past few days, with the overflow area empty.
We also enjoy watching the local Key West chickens. There
are at least three roosters, one hen and a flock of 10 baby chicks. Julie has
named one of the roosters “Doodle”. I named another one "H-P" (hen pecked) because I
saw the ole hen go after him one day, pecking at him.
We’ve been monitoring the cruise ship schedule and go
downtown when there aren’t any ships in port. The streets are a lot less
crowded than they were last month with all the vacationers on spring break.
It’s given us a chance to try a few new restaurants we haven’t been to before.
Every so often we ride our bikes over to the Sunset
Lounge for dinner and to watch another sunset. It’s a nice ride, about 1.5
miles, from our campground.
Currently we plan to leave Key West in two weeks on
Thursday, April 28th and start heading up U.S. Highway 1. We
plan to go to Naples for a couple of nights, then the Tampa area for three
nights.
