Touring Texas

We spent a week at Alsatian RV Resort, visiting Julie’s Mom nearby, and running around making wedding preparations. We met with the Hideaway Restaurant manager to go over the menu for catering Paul and Ying’s wedding here at Alsatian. We also ordered the wedding cake and took care of several other details. I bought a new suit to wear to the wedding in Taiwan.
On Saturday, October 31st, we moved to Victoria Palms RV Resort in Donna, TX (McAllen area). We enjoyed celebrating Halloween at Victoria Palms with Julie’s sister Cindy and brother-in-law Terry. On Sunday we drove to South Padre Island to hang out at a beach front cantina and listen to music.

We spent the week in Donna running a few errands. We got our F-150 pickup serviced and our motorhome wash and waxed. On a sad note, we drove back to San Antonio last Thursday to attend a memorial service on Friday for a good friend who passed away suddenly from a heart attack. We returned to Donna late Friday.

Last Saturday we celebrated Terry & Cindy’s anniversary by going to Progreso, Mexico for lunch. We parked on the U.S. side of the border and walked over the bridge to Progreso. The town caters to “Winter Texans” with some good restaurants, many dentist offices, many pharmacies, and souvenir shops. The margaritas we had at lunch were the closest in taste we’ve had to our “Steve-o-Ritas”. I was a little apprehensive about going into Mexico, but it was fine, with more Americans on the street than locals.

We moved back to Alsatian RV Resort in Castroville on Monday. We got our mail on Tuesday and our new Motorhome magazine. We were very much dismayed that they published an article on the Low-Key Hideaway Motel, RV Resort and Tiki Bar at Cedar Key, Florida. We'd heard about the Low-Key RV park a few years ago and finally got reservations to stay a couple of days there this coming January. It was very hard to get in since they have only 4 RV spaces. We're sure that we can forget about staying there again in the future with all this publicity!

We’re still taking care of a few more things this week for Paul & Ying’s Texas wedding on Sat, Nov 28th. We fly to Taipei next Tuesday for the Taiwanese wedding on Nov 22nd.
