We stayed 3-nights at a Navy campground
just north of Memphis. On Thursday we drove to downtown Memphis to the Peabody
Hotel to see the duck walk at 11AM. There were lots of spring break
visitors gather around the fountain in the hotel lobby by the time we got
there.
We went to lunch at Central BBQ downtown
Memphis. Julie and I enjoyed the ribs and they were some of the best we’ve
eaten anywhere.
After lunch went across the street to the
former Lorraine Motel and the National Civil Rights Museum. This week, on April
4th, is the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination
so there were preparations underway at the museum to mark the occasion. This
museum is extremely well done and is well worth a visit.

Next, we drove over to Memphis’
famous Beale Street to see all the blues music bars. The street was blocked off
for only pedestrian traffic. We were lucky to find a place to park.
On Friday we went to the
original location of Central BBQ and enjoyed ribs for lunch again. Afterwards
we spent several hours touring nearby Graceland on Elvis Presley Boulevard.
Julie and I were there in October 2014 but the place has totally changed with
new buildings and exhibits. We thoroughly enjoyed touring the mansion again and
seeing all the new exhibits.
We drove to Nashville
yesterday and are settled in for a 3-night stay. Happy Easter!

Wonderful blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Appreciate it.
