Hot Las Vegas

We drove to Las Vegas on Saturday, September 26th, and it was triple-digit hot on this early-Fall day. Our motorhome navigation system indicated what we felt.

Our assigned RV site had an electrical problem (reversed polarity error) that kept us from plugging in to shore power and having to run our on-board generator to power our roof top air conditioners.
They couldn’t get the electrical problem fixed, so we ended up having to pull stakes and move to a site across the street. The new RV site had a nice build out with grill, granite counters, patio table, and fire pit so we fixed dinner and ate outside in the shade.

On Sunday afternoon we headed to the strip and the Aria Resort for their buffet. After eating we headed down to the casino to watch Mike play the slot machines.

Julie gave me concert tickets for my birthday to go see Santana at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Resort. Carlos Santana and his band played all their greatest hits and it was an awesome show. Santana is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, winner of 10 Grammys, and although 68, he can still play a guitar like I’ve never heard before.

Monday we went out for breakfast at Hash House A Go Go. Julie and I have eaten there a couple of times before so we knew we were going to get one of their special eggs benedict. The portions are huge and we had decided in advance to get an extra plate and share it. It was Mike, Marcia, and Regena’s first time there. The food was very good.

After breakfast we headed to the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, featured on the “Pawn Stars” television show on the History Channel. Julie and I had never been there before and it was fun to visit.

Then we headed to the New York, New York casino to check out the Hershey Chocolate World store and play slots. Then we walked to the Excalibur casino across the street. Wore out, we headed back to the RV park about 3PM.

On Tuesday, September 29th, we went down to the strip and the Linq Casino about 4PM for dinner at Guy Fieri’s gastro pub. The food was very good. Marcia had the award winning burger with bacon and macaroni & cheese on it. After dinner we enjoyed a magical show by Mat Franco, the Season 9 winner of “America’s Got Talent”. It was very entertaining.
